WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that Africa is starting to see greater spread of Covid-19 as in Central and South America as well as Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, Western Europe is getting stable and might even see a decline in cases.
"Outbreaks in countries with poor public health systems, especially in some African countries, may lead to a 250-300 per cent increase in infections in just one week," said the WHO chief.
He believed that different regions have different directions for the spread of Covid-19. With most countries still at the beginning stages of the epidemic and some countries starting to see an increase in the number of people infected again, Covid-19 will stay with us for a long time, he said.
