The 13 workers were returning to Thailand because their contracts have expired.
Vice Admiral Choengchai Chomchoengphaet, director of the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre Area 3, and his team were present at the Visit Panwa Pier to oversee the screening.
He said that since the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration has approved the third phase of easing restrictions, the Foreign Ministry has contacted Thais who wish to return home via the sea.
“We had staff screen the 13 Thai crew onboard the ship and then again when the arrived at the Visit Panwa Pier. Now they have been sent to the hotel by the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation for a 14-day quarantine.”
