Ranger drowns while crossing creek in Kanchanaburi national park

A park ranger drowned while returning from a mission to install cameras to capture photos and footage of wild animals in the park areas, Thewin Mesub, the chief of Khao Laem National Park said at around 10pm on Wednesday (August 5).

Khao Laem National Park covers around 1,500 square kilometres in the Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri districts in Kanchanaburi province.
“Phuwadon Pongsa, 27, was reported to have drowned while crossing a creek that had a high level of water due to continuous rainfall,” he said. “He had traveled with six other rangers since August 1 to several areas in the park to install cameras.”
Thewin added that Phuwadon’s body was retrieved by accompanying rangers and local villagers the next morning. They tried to give him cardiopulomary resuscitation but he had no pulse. His body was sent to a nearby hospital for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Accompanying rangers said that they were returning after a trip to Thung Yai Wildlife Sanctuary, which shares borders with Khao Laem National Park.
