Minister of Labour Suchart Chomklin appointed Thianrat Nawamawat, the ministry's deputy permanent secretary, to welcome these workers who decided to return to Thailand due to Covid-19 at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province.

Thianrat said the ministry was cooperating with related authorities, such as the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and recruitment agencies to bring Thai workers back to Thailand.

After checking the membership status of the 47 workers in the Fund for the Assistance of Jobseekers to Work Abroad, it was found that 14 workers had proper membership, the membership of 23 workers had expired, eight workers were not registered with the fund and two workers had travelled to work abroad on their own, she said.

"Workers whose membership status was in effect will receive Bt15,000 from the fund."
