CCSA subcommittee wants emergency decree to be extended

CCSA subcommittee wants emergency decree to be extended

The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said today (August 19) that it wants the emergency decree to be extended for another month, or until September 30.

Army deputy commander and CCSA representative General Natthaphon Nakaphanich said a centre subcommittee will to propose to a higher panel that the emergency decree be extended.
Natthaphon gave an assurance that the decree will not affect people’s lives, and political assembly can continue.
He said the decree allowed the government to exercise some laws that are not covered under the Communicable Disease Act.
Natthaphon said the Covid-19 situation in Thailand was getting better and better, thanks to the public. However, he added that though the coronavirus could be detected in 14 days in patients, it could go undetected for up to 30 days.
He mentioned that the Army has talked informally to the CCSA about 237 soldiers who will return from South Sudan in September. These returnees will be sent to state quarantine, he added.
