At 7am on Tuesday, Bangkok Air Pollution Coordination and Resolution Centre reported average readings of PM2.5 in the last 24 hours at 15-41 micrograms per cubic metre.
PM2.5 refers to particulate matter that is less than 2.5 micrometres in diameter. Thailand’s safe threshold for PM2.5 is 50mcg per cubic metre of air, while the World Health Organisation has set it at 25mcg per cubic metre.
Air Quality Index (AQI) in 22 areas has been reported as very good, while 47 areas have good AQI and one area of Sukhumvit Road-Phrakhanong district is reported as of moderate quality.
The centre concluded that the air quality in Bangkok is mostly at good to very good level, and residents can engage in outdoor activities and travel as normal.
“As for areas with moderate air quality level, people can still engage in outdoor activities, but should reduce the time spent outdoors if they experience symptoms such as coughing, trouble in breathing or irritation in the eyes,” it advised.
