Isolated heavy rains forecast for the North and Central regions

The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Monday that the monsoon trough lies across the upper North with an active low cell over upper Laos.

Meanwhile, a strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible in the North and the Central regions. People should beware of the severe conditions, the department said.

Waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to rise 2-3 metres high and more than three metres high during thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore, the weather department said.

Meanwhile, tropical depression “Koguma” has downgraded into an active low cell over upper Laos, as a result the monsoon trough remains over the upper North of Thailand and upper Laos, resulting in isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the North, the department said.
