Schools deadline

Private schools and teachers have until February 8 to apply to open education centres next year, state newspapers have announced.

Those that got permission for pilot projects last year had to reapply. Private schools can receive licences for two or five years or temporary terms for a pilot project.
Most private education centres in Yangon operate on two-year terms, while those in Mandalay and Pyin-Oo-Lwin operate for five years.
The Ministry of Education has approved the opening of 20 private schools in recent years, mostly in Yangon. More than 60 have sought its permission to open.
