Woman jailed for littering in S'pore

A woman was jailed for three weeks in Singapore yesterday for offering a US$20 (Bt585) bribe to two police officers to not take action against her for littering.

Filpino national Prisbelle Pascua Abalos, 26, who was on social visit here, admitted to offering the bribe to Corporal Fatin Hazirah Mustaffa and Staff Sergeant Yves Yeo Mingshu who caught her throwing a cigarette butt near Orchard Towers on August 22 last year. Cpl Fatin saw Abalos twice throw a cigarette butt on the floor. Abalos told the officers that she was unable to find her address and instead, took out a wallet and gave two $10 bills to the officers, telling them to "go downstairs have food and drink''.
