The services will be implemented by Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR).
The ACIAR held its first meeting for development projects of farmers’ livelihoods and food security in Myanmar at Park Royal Hotel on November 14 last year.
ACIAR’s resident representative Dr Gamini Keerthisinghe visited Myanmar again on April 7, to carry out these projects in cooperation with the respective government’s departments.
The ACIAR will provide technical assistance for ensuring food security and vocational services joining hand with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). The projects will take four years to be finished.
The ACIAR will also offer technical training courses and select outstanding trainees for further education in Australia.
Among the projects, fish breeding has being implemented in the Ayeyarwaddy region starting December 2012.
“The ACIAR representative visited Myanmar four or five times,” Myo Thura, Myanmar’s program coordinator from ACIAR said.
