Abuse: foreign investors warned

The Myanmar Investment Commission is planning to cancel the visas of foreign investors if they physically torture their employees, according to the adviser of the commission, Aung Tun Thet.

More than 33 countries including China, Korea, Japan and the United States are investing in Myanmar. Some  working in firms with foreign investment have faced physical torture and carried out numerous protests to draw attention to their plight. Myanmar workers encountered slapping and other forms of physical and emotional abuse by their employers.
At present, arrangements have been made to impart training on Myanmar’s culture to those who want to  invest in the country. By doing so, the conflict between foreign investors and workers may decrease.
