Case dropped against British monk

BRITISH MONK Sayadaw U Ottara has escaped prosecution for "religious violations", as the regional court endorsed his appeal.

According to defence lawyer Nay La, the regional court resolved that the authorities cannot invoke Section 295 (a) against the monk.
“The regional court accepted the appeal and there will be no legal action related to this section in Tamwe Township Court,” said lawyer Nay La.
The other four monks – Panyarsar, Thondarathiri, Nandiya and Tayzeinda – are expected to follow Ottara’s move in appealing against the case.
All were charged with religious violations in connection with monastery property.
