Monk warns he'll sue in UK

London Sayadaw U Oatara made another attempt to sue the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, the ruling body for Buddhist monks, at Mayangon Township Court in Yangon region.

London Sayadaw filed an initial lawsuit against the ruling committee on July 16, but it was rejected by Bahan Township Court. The monk then tried to sue the ruling committee at Tamwe Township Court on August 1, however this suit too was rejected.
“If the townships don’t accept my lawsuits, I will sue them in other courts,” he said. “I am a British citizen and I can sue them in my country. Myanmar has shown there’s no rule of law by denying my case.”
