Constitutional amendment draft not completed

The draft for an amended constitution has not been drawn, according to the Parliament Draft Committee chairperson Saw Hla Tun.

“We [the committee] need the parliament’s instruction to draw the draft for constitutional amendment. Although the parliament has discussed the constitutional amendment draft, the parliament needs to choose which points to amend. After that, we can draft it. The committee has not been received any instruction so far,” said the chairperson.
He also said the bills for the budget for 2015, national plans for 2015, taxation laws and interfaith laws will be submitted to the parliament in the upcoming session on January 19, 2015.
Lower House MP Thura Aye Myint from the Union Solidarity and Development Party proposed to amend the constitution on March 20, 2013.
