Rampant crimes in Laukkaing

Robbery is rampant in Laukkaing where battles have been taking place.

Police Brig-Gen Thura Bo Ni, Police Chief of Staff, Myanmar Police Force Headquarters, said that gold shops, mobile phone shops and vehicles are main targets of the robbers.
He said that once the situation returns to normal, tough actions would be launched.
Currently, some people reportedly take advantage of Laukkaing City’s unstable situation and commit robberies and theft cases on houses, shops, and vehicles.
“Some take advantage of the unstable situation and there are reports of robberies and theft. But any sufficient evidence hasn’t got for these cases yet. Therefore, when the situation becomes stable, those who commit the crimes would be investigated and arrested,” said Police Brig-Gen Thura Bo Ni.
The government and the military ensure necessary actions for the local people’s safety and Kokang region’s peacefulness, security, stability and rule of law, stated information team of Republic of the Union of Myanmar on February 16.
