The government should not publish the state-owned Myanmar Ahlin and The Mirror using state funds, said MP Khine Maung Yee, a member of the Sports, Culture and Public Relations Development Committee, yesterday in a discussion on policies of government mini

He said: “Transforming Myanmar Ahlin and The Mirror newspapers into public services are included in the objective of the Ministry of Information. In my view, the government should not suffer losses for this public service media. I want to suggest that Parliament consider funding these papers using advertisements and other services.”
He continued that other objectives of the Ministry of Information include dismantling the Myanma Motion Picture Enterprise and reorganising the office of the secretary of the ministry as a sub-department under the Information and Public Relations Department.
"Organising the office of the secretary of the ministry and annulling the enterprise are not connected," the MP said.
Parliament approved a Ks160 million budget to build sub-printing houses in Sittwe and Monywa. The Ministry of Information requested that the budget of the Monywa sub-printing house not be cut, and if cutting it is necessary, the entire project should be put off until the next fiscal year.
MP Khine Maung Yee asked for the entire project to be cancelled altogether.
