Stock exchange businesses face scarcity of human resources

Stock exchange and related business face huge problem of human resource scarcity and these businesses reportedly require many experts, according to stock exchange sector.

“Since stock exchange has become a big business, it comes to need much human resources. As Myanmar has never experienced this before, there is no one to use. This human resource problem is being the most important problem,” said Dr. Maung Maung Thein, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Finance who is leading for implementation of Yangon Stock Exchange.

Right now, there are 15 people employed for Stock Exchange Certificate Market (SECM) and given training.

Education sector considered that since skilled workers for monetary market are scarce, those who learn subjects related to this field might get better job opportunities.

Currently, there are offers from international schools to open training schools concerning with monetary market and SECM is planning to scrutinize and permit.

“SECM hasn’t acknowledged any training schools that are operating now yet. Later, it will scrutinize and acknowledge the training schools as it is worried that learners will be wrongly taught by people who are not experts,” said Dr. Maung Maung Thein.

Dr. Maung Maung Thein explained that concerning with stock exchange implementation, although it was intended to give license only to local securities companies before, now it is planned to give license to joint ventures, too, due to human resource scarcity problem.

Myanmar’s first monetary market – Yangon Stock Exchange (YSE) is accomplished to appear in coming October and many skilled workers will be required for its related businesses.
