Zaw Min Win pledged not to strive for personal profit in his leading role.
He highlighted the need for good governance and called for amendment of the chamber’s constitution to make it less ambiguous and to strengthen its affiliated associations. “I have acquired a lot of experience in doing business here and promoting our businesses abroad.
“I highly appreciate every member’s trust in me. This motivates me to work harder for further development of our business community,” he said.
The chamber needs to work closely with the new government, politicians, news media, affiliated associations and the general public to restore its reputation, he said.
Zaw Min Win is president of the Myanmar Industries Association and chairman of the Myanmar Food Processors Exporters Association.
In an interview with The Nation in November, Zaw Min Win said he welcomed foreign investment as that could help strengthen local competitiveness.
