Bootcamp programme for start-ups

DARUSSALAM Enterprise yesterday launched its 100-Day Startup Bootcamp to help entrepreneurs and startups gain knowledge on building a sustainable business.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (Rtd) Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar, the chairman of DARE and the minister of energy and industry at the Prime Minister’s Office, said the bootcamp will provide the basic building blocks for MSMEs (Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises), noting their impor?tance as an economic driver in the economy and underscoring an emphasis on helping them be sustainable in their businesses, whether they are selling an app or cakes and coffee. “This would really help our MSMEs learn how to do business sustainability and how not to be a ‘one-year businessman’,” said the minister during the launching cere?mony last night.
Hj Mohd Yasmin also stressed that the agency would not be satisfied with less than a 100-per-cent success rate out of this new programme. “I don’t want 20 per cent, or even 30 per cent. We have spent a lot of time, a lot of resources and a lot of money on this,” he said.
“I want people (involved) to be serious on this. I want the participants to contribute, to show that they are very serious on this,” he added.
Compared to other programmes in the past, this initiative will be more organised and will focus more on cov?ering the basics, he said.
“This is aimed at startups so even if you have very little knowledge on business, this will give you (new entrepreneurs) the opportunity to be exposed to what business is all about,” he said.
In his address during the launching ceremony, Hj Mohd Yasmin said the startup bootcamp programme is intended to accelerate entrepreneurs in gaining knowledge of building a competitive company and gaining hands-on experience in introducing and implementing innovative prod?ucts and services.
