If you want to be the villain, you might need to design your own underwear.
Sumonthip “Goobgib” Lueng-Uthai had to come up with a DIY push-up bra to get her role as the nasty lady in Channel 3’s “Duang Jai Akanee”. She’d gone to the audition to try for “heroine’s friend” but decided the villain sounded “more colourful”.
Unfortunately the director said her boobs were too small. (They always say that.) Minutes later Goobgib emerged from the restroom in a toilet-tissue Wonder Bra and got the job!
Acting talent she also needs: Goobgib is a sweetie in real life, in complete contrast to her awful character. She’s such a good actor, in fact, that the show’s fans routinely give her a hard time.
One day Goobgib wanted to buy some grilled chicken on the street and the vendor, upon recognising her, started screaming in fury.
That was nothing compared to the time her mum saw the scene in the show where she killed her soap mother. “I came home and she had a long face and said I was so mean. She said, ‘If I don’t give you the money to buy a handbag, will you push me down the stairs too?’”
Dream team
Actress Araya “Chompoo” A Hargate yesterday finally met Taitao Sucharitkul, the author of the book that made her so popular on TV’s “Dok Som Si Thong”. NBC chief Adisak limparungpatankij tweeted the historic photo.
Why were the two women meeting? We can only speculate at this point that NBC is cooking up some collaboration. Chompoo had earlier phoned Taitao to thank her for creating the wonderful Reya character, but otherwise they’ve never spoken.
NBC staff members have said they can sense that something very exciting is up, and Taitao has admitted that she’s struggling to keep her mouth zipped. Sounds like another great reason to look forward to 2012!
