Porsche Design Studio comes up with a range of accessories for Johnnie Walker Blue
Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s fans can now revamp their booze cabinet, treating their pricey Blue Label bottle to some elegant accessories that start at a mere Bt6,900.
At a lavish, exclusive event at V Villas in Hua Hin last weekend, Diageo Thailand unveiled its latest feature to the house of Johnnie Walker – the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Collection by Porsche Design Studio.
With heritage and modernity in mind, the German design studio has come up with four iconic pieces to celebrate the whiskey’s “perfect serve”. Andy Gaunt, Blue Label’s regional brand ambassador, explains. “There’s no correct way to drink a whiskey, so to speak, and people enjoy it differently in each part of the world. But with Blue Label, which is a blend of the rarest and most special whiskies in the Johnnie Walker procession, we recommend that you drink it neat with iced cold water on the side.”
It’s actually very simple; take a few sips of iced water to refresh and thoroughly cleanse your palate, then a sip – a small sip – of the whiskey. The remaining water in your mouth will “unlock the many different flavours and aromas” of the whiskey. Repeat the step as often as you like – it’s recommended to share such nice whiskey with friends.
Porsche Design Studio is fully aware of this, and came up with four iconic pieces. The smallest piece, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Chiller, holds a single bottle in a square steel and leather box. Once you squeeze open the cast, the lid can be used as an ice chiller for your side water. The bigger design is the Mini Cube, which holds a bottle, steel tongs and two bespoke crystal glasses. The Cube comes with four crystal glasses, steel tongs and a sizeable chiller for when you have more company.
Splurge on the top-of-the-line item in the collection, the Private Bar, and you get a brushed steel cabinet that can be raise to two metres. It holds three bottles of Blue Label, four crystal glasses, steel tongs and a glass jug. Only 50 Private Bars are available worldwide.
In Thailand, only the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Chiller will be available from March at Bt6,900, exclusive of the whiskey.
