Noppawan, who played two three-set matches en route to final, appeared tired against Pfizenmaier. It was the first appearance in the final in three months for the Thai, who won a US$75,000 event in Dubai last December.
The Thai No 2 can make amends this week in the second leg which also takes place in the southern island. She will be joined by four local wildcard holders, Luksika Kumkhum, Nicha Lertpitaksinchai, Tanaporn Thongsing and Helen De Cesare.
