Quite a kick from Tony Jaa

Quite a kick from Tony Jaa

We’ve had a flurry of celebrity weddings this year, with at least three star couples marrying this month. The biggest surprise so far, though, is the wedding invitation Soopsip’s just received from action-film hero Panom “Tony Jaa” Yeerum.
The 36-year-old star of “Ong Bak” and “Tom-Yum-Goong” has out of the blue announced that he’s tying the knot with Rayong native Piyarat “Boongyi” Chotiwattananont, 22. (Who knew they’ve been dating for almost three years?)
Sahamongkol Film chieftain Somsak “Sia Jiang” Techarattanaprasert has agreed to preside at the nuptials at the Royal Navy Hall and even picked the date – May 3 – that’s Tuesday! No, he didn’t consult a fortune-teller. He just found a date on the Official Show Business Calendar that had no other massing of the celebrity tribes.
Sia Jiang seems happy despite the wedding stalling production on “Tom-Yum-Goong 2”. It’s 40 per cent done anyway, so the studio can spare Ja a few days off for a honeymoon.

Gaga he’s not
Producers of “The Voice Thailand” will today announce that singer-songwriter Apiwat “Stamp” Eauthavornsuk will be one of the new TV talent show’s four coaches. Stamp says it’s an honour, but he’s a little preoccupied.
“I’ve never had a concert of my own since releasing my first album four years ago,” he says. That’s right, he’s performed onstage many times, but always in other people’s shows. Now he’s hoping to arrange one later this year.
Stamp admits he suffers from stage fright but swears he’ll be okay once he fires up the guitar and voice. Just don’t expect a plate of comedy on the side. “If you get me up there doing anything else, I’ll freeze!”
One other thing – no huge rock-star entrance. He just wants to walk onstage with the band.
So no warm-up music, no screaming introduction from an emcee, no working the fans into a screaming frenzy before he even shows up, and no fireworks. Just him playing and singing.
That sounds incredibly plain. We love it.
