Even if you haven’t been invited to the wedding reception of actor Chatayodom “Chai” Hiranyatihit and actress Sunisa “Vicky” Jett on May 16 you’ve probably heard that the venue has been changed from the St Regis Hotel to the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.
The couple says the St Regis booked a seminar right before their reception, giving them just one hour to decorate their hall. The hotel assured them it wouldn’t be a problem to prepare for such an elaborate occasion in such a short span of time, but Chai and Vicky were not convinced.
“Vicky couldn’t sleep after hearing the news,” says Chai.
It was such big news that Channel 3 covered it on their morning news programme, with outspoken co-host Pornchita “Benz” Na Songkla sniping: “I am willing to spend my own money to see if the hotel could create the wedding party within an hour like they boast.”
Benz has been criticised online for her sarcastic, “unprofessional” remarks. Chai and Vicky don’t look so good either. And the St Regis has public-relations work to do as well.
But at least now everyone is informed about the change in venue.

Fear of flying
Newscaster Kanok Ratwongsakul’s wife used to complain about him spending all his time online.
“I used to go to bed at midnight but now sometimes I am on Facebook until 1am,” says Kanok, who starts his day at 4.30 to do a morning Modernine show. He hits the social network after his evening broadcast for the Nation Channel.
His wife doesn’t hassle him so much now, since his social-media book “Kanok Kod Like” (Kanok Click Like) became a best-seller.
His other big passion is watching Everton play football, but it’s rare that he can watch the matches live on TV.
Everton’s sponsor Chang has repeatedly invited him to watch the team in England, but he’s always turned them down – not because he can’t find the time but because he’s afraid of flying.
“I only travel on land, so now my wife is complaining she’ll never have a chance to go on a trip with me.”
That could be the idea for another book – travelling by land with Kanok. But he’d better bring his wife along.
