The 30-year-old, who began his career at Real Sociedad, signed a lucrative year-by-year deal and should be a good fit with Thai Yamaha’s “Real>> Innovative” campaign with Spanish giants Real.
“It’s pleasure for us, for Real Madrid and myself, to have a contract with Yamaha, a big brand all over the world. It’s really an honour to be chosen as a brand ambassador.
“We shot the commercials yesterday. It’s really enjoyable. I had a chance to experience a new motorcycle, Nouvo SX. I really like the design. Hopefully, it’ll be a big success,” said Alonso, who revealed his own history with Yamahas.
“When I started as a professional, I used to have a motorcycle that I rode in my city. It was a Yamaha. It was 15 years ago. … So, I’m really happy that 15 years later, we’re back together again.
Back to the matters on the field, Alonso said he wanted to help his club succeed both domestically and internationally this season by retaining the Spanish title and reclaiming the Champions League trophy.
“With Real Madrid, we will fight for each competition. La Liga and Champions League – they’re the main attraction for us.”
Asked to name his most memorable match, Alonso ignored Liverpool’s comeback from three goals down against AC Milan to win the 2005 Champions League final, and went for the World Cup final win against the Netherlands in South Africa two years ago.
