Tak is next to godliness
Presumably for lack of anything else to discuss, people were gossiping about how the home of former TV host and actress Mayura “Tak” Savetsila is so tidy. Well it is. Tak came clean, as it were, giving Woody Militajinda a tour of the house on Sunday’s “Woody Talk” show on Modernine.
In the bedroom she explained that she uses only pure white sheets and pillowcases “so I can spot any stain or hair or whatever”. Surely making the bed is the maid’s job? “No, I do my own bed. I can’t stand it untidy!”
The bathroom looked even cleaner than those shiny mock-up bathrooms in homeware stores. Tak had to stop Woody from licking the sink. The five-star-hotel cleanliness extended to the dining area and kitchen. Woody sniffed for lingering food odours in vain.
After dinner the plates are passed to the maid through a window in the kitchen wall, “but I sometimes wash a few dishes myself – I use lime after rinsing off the soap. I bought a lot of lime just to wash the dishes, to kill the smell. And I also have to clean the sink.”
It must wreck her when messy guests are dirtying up the premises. Nobody dares come over, Tak said, laughing hysterically. If she and her hubby host a party, she’s sitting on pins and needles the whole time. If a guest inadvertently sloshes wine on the dining table linen, she’s on it like a hawk on a field mouse.
Garden parties are ordeals, with guests letting mosquitoes inside the house as they come and go to the bathroom. “Someone joked that we should hire a mobile toilet and park it outside.”
So wise friends tend to stay away. “My hubby knows how I feel and never invites people home anymore.”
Housekeepers, on the other hand, are delighted to work there because of the fussy training they get. Woody said he’d happily hire any maid who’s learned the ropes at Tak’s place. “I bet anyone would!” she replied proudly.
