Homegrown denim designs

Expect lots of screaming as five Thai jean brands present their collections on Thursday at 6.30pm at Terminal 21 to launch the “T-Shirt and Jeans Watch and Wash” fair.
Among the models slipping into the tight trousers will be young heartthrob actors Mario Maurer and Prin “Mark” Suparat plus soap star Janie Tienposuwan.
On the catwalk will be jeans from Indigoskin, Vanorn Bangkok, Black Sheep, Artist Denim and Doku.
Each brand is unique. Indigoskin, for example, uses imported denim from Japan and adds swatches of Thai fabric from such brands as Khomapastr and Jim Thompson. Vanorn Bangkok is home-made denim in Thai contemporary style, while Artist Denim is known for its handmade process. Doku’s collection includes the slim-fit “tora style” and the “hiro style” with straight tube legs.
Aiming to promote Thai jean brands, the fair continues until December 10.

Helping hand for Rama
Fashion brands Senada, Kloset and Disaya team up to design T-shirts, bags, cushions and scarves to benefit the Ramathibodi Foundation and Ramathibodi Hospital.
Senada’s T-shirt depicts two cartoon characters dancing face to face in the shape of a heart. The colours are pastel pink and purple and refer the paungrat flower, which is the foundation’s symbol. Underneath is slogan “Give Peace”. The design also includes a scarf.
Elephants are key to the T-shirts, handbags and totes from Kloset.
Disaya’s signature teddy bear adorns cushions, which come in pastel pink, purple and blue.

Zodiac master strokes
Pareena Butler of cutting-edge scarf label Madison recently launched her “Lucky” collection, which uses the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Made from silk, each scarf depicts free-hand watercolour sketches of such animals as the horse, rooster and rat. The brand is advised by a feng shui master in the creation of the design. The colours match with each animal’s year.
