At a recent press conference promoting a credit card, reporters repeatedly asked her about her health after seeing her weeping in a video clip that someone on her staff uploaded to TataYoung.com. It was taped just after she’d put on a little show in Myanmar for a Thai beauty clinic. She broke down in tears in her bedroom, no makeup and engulfed by despair.
So it shouldn’t have surprised Tata that there would be more questions, but some of them were awfully harsh. The video clip was for her own reference, a record of her recovery, she said, and wasn’t supposed to become public. Certain news-hounds kept gnawing away. At one pointed Tata swivelled 180 degrees in her chair to bark back, “What kind of question is that! I don’t need to be reminded all the time that I’m sick!”
It wasn’t the usual cheery Tata. Soon enough, though, she said more calmly, “No, I haven’t got one foot in the coffin yet.”
Tata confirmed that she’ll be among the six superstars onstage at the 6.2.12 concerts on May 4 and 5 at Royal Paragon Hall – but still doesn’t want to do a show of her own at the end of this year, as was originally planned.
The mood swings lit up the media. ASTV took a nasty headline swipe at her figure as well as her mood. The gossips ruled that she doesn’t deserve the right to be silent about her sickness.
She’d best get the 6.2.12 shows out of the way so she can relax. Fans will have to be content with the backstage video she promised to upload. She plans a couple of months of rejuvenation. Without anyone pestering her, we might see the old smile again soon enough.
