A 'Boundary' some won't cross

Nontawat Numbenchapol thought he was just making his first feature-length film. It turned out he was baking a hot potato.

“Boundary” (“Fahtum Pandinsoong”) immediately got a lot of free publicity when the Film and Video Board decided it couldn’t be shown. But they and nontawat talked things over and they said, “Okay, never mind.”
So a press screening was set up this past Monday, only for word spread on Facebook that Major Cineplex might not allow “Boundary” to be shown. But then they and Nontawat talked things over and came to an agreement.
“Boundary” is screening at the Major Cineplex Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai until tomorrow. It’ll then be at the EGV Tesco Lotus in Khon Kaen next Thursday and Friday and then at the Major Cineplex Udon Thani on July 16 and 17. It returns to Bangkok’s Esplanade Ratchada on July 18.
Major Cineplex remains nervous enough about the movie that it won’t sell “Boundary” tickets through its own system. So Nontawat has to sit in the theatre lobby saying “Pssssst!”
Just look for him an hour before showtime and slip him a red. Well, the tickets cost only Bt100 if you send that much to Mobile Lab Project, Account 523-2-17977-7, at Kasikorn Bank and then e-mail your transfer slip to [email protected] and say what day you want to see the film.
Is all this clear enough? If not, have a look at www.Facebook.com/boundarymovie.

Memory hog
It’s inevitable that MR Chalermchatri “Adam” Yukol will be asked while promoting his directorial debut “Sarawat Mah Baa” (“The Cop”) whether he was influenced much by his famously cinematic father, MC Chatrichalerm “Than Mui” Yukol.
Adam says he admires the old man a great deal – including the way he continues to learn new things. He says Than Mui totes around three iPads because he’s constantly downloading video tutorials. One, for example, was about special-effects technology he needed to shoot the elephant battle for “The Legend of King Naresuan”. No wonder it’s taking so long to finish.
