Former Miss TU and Miss International Queen Treechada “Poy” Petcharat has been dubbed one of the top transsexual entertainers in Asia, giving her the chance to “go inter” in the big-budget Hong Kong film “The White Storm”.
Poy tells Channel 3 it was all very exciting working with veteran director Benny Chan of “A Moment of Romance” fame and actors Louis Koo and Angus Zhan. It was all quite “professional”, she says. “Every scene I was in I had to go early and stand by so that, at shooting time, everyone was in character.”
Poy wasn’t sure she’d get the role. “Maybe I got it because I have a Chinese [‘Ar-muay’] look that suited the character, a mafia chief’s daughter,” she says. It evidently made no difference that she’s transgender. She blended in. “I mingled with hairdressers and makeup artists!”
The movie is heading for China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. Poy isn’t sure if it’s coming to Thailand, but she would certainly love to attend that premiere.
Meanwhile she’s landed a modelling job with Japanese magazine Common Sense.
“I’ll be surrounded by Louis Vuitton products and another set will reflect me as a Thai beauty.”

Former influential politician turned influential football manager Newin Chidchob has spoken out on the Football Association of Thailand’s planned election to replace president Worawi Makudi, currently stalled because doing so might upset the world footie body, FIFA. Some of the locals think local rules supersede foreign ones in this case.
Appearing on the Thai PBS chat show “Tob Jote”, Newin said he’s a Thai citizen who abides by Thai regulations. “I want to ask Worawi if he is Thai.”
Worawi, he said, is free to run for president of FIFA if he wants to uphold the FIFA “constitution” at the expense of Thai interests.
Worawi has his backers because he’s been with the local organisation for five years and done a lot for Thai football, but Newin isn’t one of them. “Personally, I’m okay with anyone at the helm – except Khun Worawi,” he said.
