Thailand's rock stars reunite for a replay of the "Right Hand Harmony" concert

Rockers Billy Ogan, Thitima “Waen” Sutasunthorn, Nuvo and Micro got back together at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thai last weekend for a reprise of the sell-out “Mue Khwa Samakkee” (“Right Hand Harmony”) concert that was staged 23 years ago.
Fans flocked to the show, many of them bringing their kids, eager to recapture the magic of the original show. The 40-somethings proved they hadn’t forgotten how to rock, singing and dancing along with much-loved hits and applauding loudly at the end of each number.
But sadly it wasn’t just the songs that took the audience back to yesteryear but the sound system too. Vocals and instruments were thrown out of harmony on several occasions throughout the show though the blips in volume and mixing were particularly obvious during Nuvo’s set.
The concert opened with a set by Billy, who performed such well-known slow and powerful songs as “Phood Duay Kor Mai Phood Duay” and “Fang Wai Nai Phuen Din”.
Waen Thitima showed she hadn’t forgotten how to rock either, hitting the high notes on “Jak Wan Nan Thueng Wan Nee” and “Arj Ja Pen Khon Nee” before launching into two medleys of danceable songs.
Screams were loud when perennial favourites Nuvo came out on stage and almost broke through the sound barrier when the band’s most handsome member Saharat “Kong” Sangkapreecha greeted fans and played acoustic guitar on “Luek Sud Jai”. Kong duetted with Jirayu “Jo” Wattanasin in “Luem Pai Mai Rak Kan” and “Sud Sud Pai Loei” and no one seemed particularly surprised when they were joined by guest Mai Charoenpura.
Right hands shot up into the air as Micro headed out on stage to rock fans with “Som Lon”, “Term Nam Man”, “Ao Pai Loei” and “Sia Mai” with the audience joining them for hits “Rak Pon Pon” and “Bok Ma Kham Diew”.
Marsha Wattanapanich, ex wife of singer Amphon “Nui” Lampoon, was a surprise guest and delighted the fans by performing with him on stage.
The concert closed out with all the artists joining up for the theme song, “Mue Khwa Samakkee”.
Will the “right hand” crowd be back for another reunion? No word yet but from the reactions last weekend, fans will be hoping.
