Burin Kantabutra is noble in wanting to permanently nail the despicable blanket-amnesty bill. But his idea of securing pledges from MPs to give up personal assets should they ever attempt such legislation again is definitely “crazy and naive”. I offer the following solutions to end the current protests:
My favourite is for the “man in Dubai” and his two sisters to swear publicly that no legal pardon for corruption shall ever be attempted again.
Alternatively, the Speakers of the House and the bill’s author, Pheu Thai MP Prayuth Siripanich, apologise and are banned from public office for their sly scheme to bring back their master and let him off scot-free. Prime Minister Yingluck is also to apologise for allowing her colleagues to pull a fast one.
Or, Yingluck and the 310 soulless MPs apologise for their temporary lapse of sanity that provoked massive ill-feeling in society.
If Yingluck is clever, she will at least apologise on TV – ideally, with eyes welling up. I for one would feel more sympathy if she showed her softer side, and would be willing to join calls for Suthep to return to Surat Thani.
Well, maybe I am just as crazy and naive as Khun Burin!
