Farewell to the rule of law

But aren’t those same demonstrators, led by Suthep, implicitly condoning the violence that occurs when anti-government protesters storm buildings? Far from peaceful demonstrations, these acts are violent and illegal invasions. It is no surprise that the police have tried to intervene. Who wouldn’t try to protect their home if a huge mass of people attempted to storm it? 

What has happened to the rule of law in this country? More significantly, perhaps, what has happened to those empowered to enforce these rules? Why do they sell themselves so easily? I am thinking about all aspects of life in this country – the police, the government and civil servants, the courts, the politicians, and the supposedly independent organisations tasked with such enforcement.
