Nonthanan “Kacha” Anchuleepradit, Sattapong “Tao” Phiangphor and Watcharakan “Frame” Buaban, who delighted viewers of Thai reality talent show True Academy Fantasia Season 8 by forming the band Kot Lor, proved their talents both as solo artists and a group late last month with a full-length show that packed out BCC Hall of Central Lat Phrao.
All three have come a long way since their AF days, finessing both their vocal power and musical abilities and showing a level of maturity beyond their years. Frame, the baby of the group, impressed with his compelling vocals on his cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” as well as on Kot Lor’s arrangement of Green Day’s “21 Guns”. Kacha too has developed a distinctive tone, while Tao has sharpened his performance skills.
The three lads made their entrance on stage through the audience, clad in white suits and on bicycles, bringing surprise and delight to their amassed fan clubs. They opened with a set of solos that included Potato’s “Thon Pis Bad Plae Mai Wai”, Thongchai “Bird” McIntyre’s “Ya Tham Yang Nee Mai Wa Kap Krai … Khao Jai Mai” and Calories Blah Blah’s “Pae Kham Wa Rak”, before joining up for Bird’s “Ngieb Ngieb Khon Diew”, a nod to their weekly AF concerts.
They then separated for their solo performances. The song list indicated that Frame would accompany himself on piano for the Queen song before switching to guitar for his new single “Na Derm”. Technical reasons prevented the first though he gave a credible performance on the second before handing over Kacha for “Bai Song” and “Hai Chan Thon Ngao Dee Kwa Khao Mai Rak Ther”. Frame was back on stage complete with piano after Tao’s cover of Muzu’s “Khon Thuk Thing” and, after the applause died down, Tao returned with a medley of danceable songs that included Dong Bang Shin Ki’s “Honey Bunny Funny” and Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie”.
Screams and applause greeted the next segment of the show as Frame on electric guitar, Tao on acoustic and Kacha on drums swung into a cover of Green Day’s hit “21 Guns” and followed up with “Hormones” soundtrack “Mai Bok Ther” and a medley of their own songs.
Guest Sirintip “Rose” Hanpradit joined the boys for “Way Back into Love” and “Mak Kwa Rak” before going solo on “Mai Mod Rak Tae Mod Raeng”.
Kacha and Frame then duetted on Silly Fools’ “Pid Thi Wai Jai”, Kacha joined Tao for Boyd & Cutto’s “Kham Tham Ngo Ngo” then handed over to Tao and Frame for Singto Numchok’s “Ai”.
In a segment that has become the signature of shows by Korean artists, the boys then invited fans to the stage for a game with Atsadaporn “Green AF5” Siriwattanakul acting as emcee.
The last part of the show brought the audience to its feet with Tao, Kacha and Frame performing a medley of Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat”, Pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service”, LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”, and Por AF7’s latest single “Sod Kraprib Kraproi”.
“Rak Khun Khao Laew”, “Mai Khoei Ja Hang Kan” and “Chao Ying” followed before the youngsters wrapped the show with popular tune “Muen Khoei”.
