Scent of simplicity

Made by Delibodi opens a second shop at Chatuchak Weekend Market

MADE BY Delibodi, a lifestyle shop that’s been doing a roaring trade from its shop in the riverfront mall Asiatique for the last couple of years, is spreading its wings and opening a new branch in Chatuchak Weekend Market.
The space is smaller but still boasts an impressive variety of fragrant products, handicrafts, fashion accessories, home furnishings and clothes for the girls, most of them in earth tones.
Owned and run by former Nation Junior editor Anutra Ungsuprasert, who founded the Delibodi label back in 2010, the brand uses only the most natural of ingredients in its range of hand creams, body lotions, shower gel and scented candles.
Delibodi won the attention of foreign buyers when it was introduced at the annual Bangkok International Gift and Houseware Fairs, and by 2012 Anutra was confident enough to bring graphic designers Sataporn Nuallong and Akarit Leeyavanich into her team and open a store at Asiatique.
“We’ve done well and our products are very popular with foreign tourists. And despite our turnover being down because of the current political conflict, we decided to go ahead with our plans to open a branch at Chatuchak Weekend Market,” Anutra says.
The new, simply designed outlet is in Section 2 and invites shoppers to savour the slow life. The shelves are stocked with lifestyle products designed by Anutra and her partners.
The Delibodi body lotion, hand cream and shower gels are available in four fragrances: Mandarin Poetry is extracted from lemon and orange; Ginger Theory is a blend of peppermint and ginger; Tea Culture is made from Oolong leaves and Olive Serif is produced from olives.
The hand-poured aromatic candles made from non-toxic soy wax remain best sellers and come in three essences. Zen Valley uses bamboo and citrus to smooth troubled minds; Tuscany Garden made from olives and Borneo Native is a delightful mix of floral fragrances.
The shop also has colourful scented candles made from palm wax in Tea Culture, Rose Valentine, Linen District, Medal Ministry and Wood Willow fragrances plus a new facial soap made from Moroccan argan oil that helps get rid of large pores while brightening the skin.
Other guaranteed non-toxic soaps produced from coconut and olive oil come in 10 fragrances including Lavender Spring, Rose, Olive Serif, Green Tea Basic and Ylang Ylang Twist.
Anutra recently launched a new line of furnishings and fashion accessories including oversize bags made from recycled coffee sacks with different motifs from the UK, crocheted tote bags, trays, bowls and flower pots made with mango wood, zinc lanterns as well as charming vintage leather bags.
“We’re offering merchandise here that’s different from the stuff you’ll find at Asiatique branch,” Anutra says. “Next month, we’re launching a collection of casual clothes in cotton and hand-woven textiles.
Also in stock are eye-catching whale-shaped photo frames created by young artist Suthipa Kamyam, animal-shaped pillows and funky collars for a pooch by Made By Me.
