Boys now have more reasons to frequent RCA. Newly opened club the Mansion serves up Vegas-style entertainment, burlesque shows and live music created especially for gents and apparently anyone else who fancies the company of beautiful women and raunchy, sensual shows.
Brought to you by the same team that mans Levels on Sukhumvit Soi 11, the Mansion boasts a spacious burlesque-style club, complete with heavy leather chairs, glistening fountains and VIP booths. The focus, though, is on the entertainment side, which promises the most amazing audio and visual experience ever experienced in Bangkok.
There’s a 40-square-metre Projection Mapping wall behind the stage for the visuals and the sound system is said to be one of Bangkok’s finest. The band performs danceable, upbeat current hits nightly, with a theme show every Friday.
It’s the other performances that set the Mansion apart, of course. Skilled dancers take turns shaking things up while the band plays, and several times on a Friday night the troupe churns out burlesque acts to wow the crowd. There’s been “Lust for Latex”, “Seductive Angels”, “Lingerie Masquerade” and the completely expected “Lap Dance”. These aren’t actually the feathers-and-lace, Dita Von Teese’s retro-glam kind of acts, but more modernistic, with lots of elements thrown into the mix. They are reasonably well choreographed and professionally executed. The costumes are scanty and tight enough to ensure all eyes are fixed on the performers but, sorry boys, there is no stripping.
Unlike other clubs where the buzz tends to die down right after the show finishes, the Mansion keeps things hopping with minor dance acts taking place throughout the premises. It’s easy to just sit back, relax and enjoy the seamless shows all night. More than a hundred hostesses keep the lonesome souls company.
Normally this kind of club can be quite pricey and often members-only, but the Mansion offers free entry every night, with no minimum requirement on the spending – unless you’re booking a VIP table, for which you’ll have to commit to spending at least Bt5,000 or opening two bottles of spirits.
The same management team has opened two more dance clubs down on Sukhumvit 11 for girls and all others to let their hair down.
One is the V Club at the back of Levels on the sixth floor of Aloft Bangkok. The highlight there is the music, which is pure underground, with no commercial fluff. So far the DJ deck has welcomed luminaries like Arty, Wolfgang Gartner, Cedric Gervais, Channel X and Bjorn Storig, with new foreign acts arriving on a weekly basis. Those who love hard techno and underground house can get their fix there and entry is always free.
The V Club is open daily from 9pm. Check out www.Facebook.com/VclubBangkok.
After-hours clubs in Bangkok have traditionally been somewhat seedy. Some have obscure addresses that only a taxi driver would recognise. But party animals whose bedtime is somewhere between breakfast and lunch can now romp in full swing at Wax on the fifth floor of the building next to the Australian Pub.
This place is open from midnight to dawn, offering an eclectic mix of house on a decent sound system and a proper, professional club feel. Girls get in for free. Guys pay Bt250 and get one drink. Read more at www.Facebook.com/WaxBangkok.
