Top singers join in tribute to Her Majesty The Queen and Mothers

Veteran and new generation singers have chosen to mark Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 82nd birthday and Mother’s Day today with “Pleng Rak … Mae”, a compilation album that brings together songs expressing love, respect and admiration for the most important women in all our lives – our mothers.
A collaborative effort of the Culture Ministry, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation, Royal Thai Army Band, Royal Thai Navy Band, GMM Grammy and RS Public, the 12 songs aim to instil a sense of gratitude in the young generation.
The track list comprises “Somdej” by Duangdao Thaohiran, “Kha Nam Nom” by “The Voice Kids Thailand” Season One winner, Kuljira “Oil” Thongkham, “Sai Yai Haeng Phaendin” by Thongchai “Bird” McIntyre, “Rao Rak Mae” by Fai Am Fine, Waii Kamikaze, Kratae and Kung Suthiraj, “Mae” by Thannaree Veenakorn, “Dek Ban Nok” by Fluke I-Nam, “Duay Sud Jai” by Be Peerapat Thanewong, “Im Oon” by Su Bunliang, “Khrai Nor” by National Artist Setha Sirachaya and “Akarapirak” by the choir of the College of Music at Mahidol University.
There are also two versions of “Mae Khong Phaendin”. The first is crooned by Isariya Kuprasert and Tanee Poonsuwan, while the second is covered by more than 30 Grammy artists including Nantida Kaewbuasai, Mai Charoenpura, Nat Myria, Bie Sukrit, Palapol Polkongseng, Yuthana “Toomtam” Puengklang, Chayuti “Techin” Siripin and Witchayanee “Gam the Star” Piaklin.
“This song ‘Mae Khong Phaendin’ reflects the exhaustive efforts made by Her Majesty the Queen in improving the lives of the Thai people,” says Techin.
“I’m very proud to represent Thai children from all over the country in ‘Kha Nam Nom’, which expresses gratitude to all mothers,” adds Oil Kuljira. “It wasn’t easy for me to express my emotions in this song but I sincerely believe I am singing on behalf of all young people.”
Universal Music Thailand is also taking part in the Mother’s Day celebrations with the release of Khid Thueng Mae Na”, the second single by “The Voice Thailand” finalist Trakarn “Ta” Srisangchan.
“Phi Vespa R Siam wrote this song from me. I worry about my mother. I would like to be beside her, to take care of her, and to make her feel happy,” says the young luk thung artist.
Bansomdej Entertainment at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in Thon Buri shows its loyalty to the Queen with the newly penned single, “Thi Sud Khong Khwam Rak”, one of the tracks making up the special album, “Our Beloved Queen and Mums”.
The single, which was written by Nueng Hyper and Nutt Dechapanyaand and arranged by Thanapongpan “Golf” Buranakupm, features such singers as Dak Rock Rider, Pum WhatChaRaWaLee, Peet Peera, Moo Muzu, Nutt Dechapanya, Pui Duangporn, Kick Cat Cry, Menu Today and Psycho Dream.
“It’s a pop rock number that honours mothers for taking care of their children from the moment they are conceived right through their lives,” Nutt says.
