The elections have shown us that: (a) Any issue of vital interest can be decided upon by the electorate, for at stake here was the most key issue of the country’s independence; (b) voters must be comprehensively informed, eg, intensive discussions took over two years before voting; (c) all sides must be given ample opportunity to present their points, as shown by the extensive public debates and discussions; (d) all sides must respect the equal rights of their opponents and minorities; (e) politicians must address broad national issues, as the head of the Scottish National Party and British PM did – not just parochial ones; (f) the losing side must respect voting results; and (g) the winning side must keep promises made.
For starters, PM/NCPO head General Prayuth, let’s have informed debates by universities, associations, etc, on what we can learn from the Scottish elections, and how to apply those lessons to us.
