Back in Bangkok last weekend after 18 months away from the Land of Smiles, South Korean boy band 2PM delivered an energetic and colourful performance in front of thousands of screaming fans at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
Fans were screaming loudly even before the hall went dark and the sound rose to a ear-shattering decibel level as the six lads appeared on the stage with “Heartbeat”. Glow sticks lit up the auditorium as the band continued to electrify with a danceable set that included “Without U”, “Hot”, “10 Out of 10” and Go Crazy”, the title track of 2PM’s latest album that comes complete with a motorcycle-riding dancing style.
Solo and duo sets followed with Taecyeon and Chansung singing and rapping on “The Word Love” and “Please Come Back” and stripping off their shirts to reveal tight six-packs.
All six boys returned to the stage for “Rain” and the R&B ballad “I’m Sorry”, with the audience responding by waving glow sticks red, blue, yellow, purple, green and pink. “The colourful scene is really impressive,” Taecyeon told the crowd before leading the band into “Comeback When You Hear This Song” and “Like Tonight”.
Fans obediently responded to a command to raise their hands in the air as the boys performed “Hands Up” and danced to “Superman” by Jun K and Wooyoung in a DJ booth and “Sexy Lady”. The giant screen continued to flash images of a very sexy lady fooling around with all six boys as they swung into “I’m Your Man”, “A.D.T.O.Y”, and “Beautiful.”
Nichkhun and Junho were next up with “Love Is True” and then the only Thai member of the hand went solo with Jetset’er’s “Joob”.
2PM returned to stage en masse for the upbeat Again & Again” and a medley of “I Hate You”, “Tired of Waiting”, and “Maza” then closed out with “I’ll Be Back”, “Don’t Stop Can’t Stop” and “Game Over”.
With shouts for an encore almost bringing down the roof, the boys reappeared on stage and performed “Goodbye Trip” along with reprises of “Hands Up” and “Go Crazy”.
“Do you all know how happy I am to be singing at this concert?” Nichkhun asked the screaming fans.
“My five band mates love Thailand and say that it’s their second home. See you soon!”
