Chalerm Yoobamrung has broken his conspicuous silence since May 22 with gems that Thaksin is winning the political battle because of the coup. Wow, that is enlightening and clever. However, Chalerm’s message fell flat in two of his statements.
First, was his claim that the eternal victory would not happen if “Thaksin dies or quits politics”. None of Thaksin’s opponents ever dares to raise this possibility, though many might secretly wish it comes true. Was it a bad omen for his leader for Chalerm to break the taboo?
Second, I could not believe Chalerm said that “the controversial blanket amnesty brought an end to the Yingluck government because it provided the PDRC with a valid reason to overthrow the government”. Why didn’t he tell Yingluck and Thaksin not to pursue that route when many non-partisan observers at that time had already warned of the dangers? This is purely being clever after the event.
Khun Chalerm, please go on talking and drinking your Petrus wine: you could bury the whole family one day.
