FORMER Srinakarinwirot and Silpakorn graduates Pongsak Kobrattanasuk and Thita Kamonnetsawat have turned their student passion for fashion into a successful career, opening two modest boutiques in less than five years and moving up to the big time with the launch of their new outlet at trendy Siam Center in August.
Their brand, Rotsaniyom, offers stylish vintage dresses and separates for women made from the finest lace and in attractive prints.
They started designing back in 2008, coming up with a range of tees for the Fat T-shirt Festival that sold so well that they quickly expanded their wares and opened a boutique at Chatuchak Weekend Market before adding another branch in Siam Square.
“We were still at university back then but wanted to showcase our ideas and make a statement about our style,” Thita says. “And we’ve made a name for ourselves thanks to our use of elaborate lace on dresses and maxi dresses.”
The pair also owns an art studio. Pongsak is in charge of design while Thita handles the marketing. Their motto is “an individual imperfect beauty ideal” and they enjoy combining a woman’s masculine and feminine sides as well as modern and ancient trends.
Their Siam Center shop draws on that art studio and is entered through a white arch. The interior is stark white too yet sets off the lace outfits in white and ecru that hang from the rails.
“We want to make elaborate lace designs easier to wear. And a white skirt always look good in a hot climate,” Thita says.
The Individual Imperfect collection features a wide range of ultra-feminine pleated skirts adorned with a lace belt, cotton shirts, lacy skirts and shorts, along with shirts and skirts in red lace, floral printed dresses and cropped shirts with a butterfly pattern.
Caps, shoes, horsehair sneakers and flats are also on sale.
