Booko says he’s spent more than Bt1 million on surgical remoulding in South Korea, “but there’s one thing I haven’t yet done, and that’s hair-restoration surgery.” Well he isn’t bald or even losing his hair, so why would he consider that? Because, he says, his hairline looks “too masculine”.
“I want to fix it to match up with my face. It will make my face more feminine.”
So he was planning another trip to Seoul, but then changed his mind and chose a Thai doctor instead.
Booko rejects any suggestion that he’s become “addicted” to plastic surgery, saying it’s just his way of fulfilling the adolescent dream he’s had ever since coming out of the closet. He thinks he looks more beautiful now, which in turn is good for his career, which in turn is good for his bank account. (It all works out pretty nicely for the plastic surgeons too, of course.)
Booko reckons the surgery fixes the flaws and thus improves his fortunes in life, sort of like feng shui for the flesh.
Ice is hot for ‘I fine’
Actress Preechaya “Ice” Pongthananikorn and director Mez Tharatorn had tremendous success with the film “ATM Er Rak Error” (later turned into a TV series), and next week we’ll see their latest collaboration, “I fine ... thank you ... love you”.
The new movie with the grammatically challenged title hits theatres next Wednesday.
It’s not like Mez had any trouble convincing Ice to work with him again. She was in tears when she found out he’d written the script specifically for her.
She plays an English tutor coaching Yim (Sunny Suwanmethanon), a gruff mechanic who wants to learn the language so he can go to the US and make up with his ex-girlfriend, played by Japanese actress Sora Aoi. Aoi is the former adult-video star who apparently still has a bulging fan club in Thailand.
In real life Ice is in senior year at ABAC University, taking liberal arts. Playing an English tutor proved to be a tough assignment. “I was so glad Mez wrote the script for me that I was ready to work hard at it, studying English more, speaking in English with my parents and friends,” she says. “I tried to speak English in my daily life as much as possible, and in the meantime I also learned from the pros about getting the accent more accurate.”
From what we’ve seen in the movie trailer, Ice appears to have done a great job. Her accent is very good, even though she’s never studied overseas. She probably could have helped them out with that movie title too!
The actress was involved in a car accident while shooting a TV series last year, so she’s had to build up her muscles for the film. “It took a lot energy,” she says. “It was very tough, but fun!”
