There is another aspect that indirectly affects accidents on the road that nobody is mentioning, namely that policemen have no formal training when it comes to traffic management, they learn the same mistakes that senior police teach them.
Thailand needs a proper traffic police academy. Those who graduate will have confidence in the decisions they make. They will earn a decent salary based on their diploma and drivers will have more respect for them and follow road regulations that make sense.
