The publication of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s assets declaration was bound to provoke some sort of response, and, sure enough, Richard Bowler couldn’t resist the temptation to “have a go”, posing various questions as if he was a one-man NACC. However, his remark regarding the possibility of her partner transferring assets to her servants was vindictive, in poor taste, and amounted to nothing more than utterly pointless speculation.
I do not recall Mr Bowler making similarly snide comments last year when members of the NCPO declared their assets. But I suppose it’s a lot easier, and much less risky, to kick a lady when she’s down than to publicly question the remarkable wealth amassed by some powerful and influential military officers.
