Party organiser Kolour brings German DJ Sven Vath to Pathum Thani's best-known wake boarding venue. TO

MUSIC FANS have plenty to shout about this weekend as the latest 12-hour music and gourmet dining event comes to town.
Kolour in the Park with Sven Vath is organised, as the title suggests, by Kolour, which has built up quite a reputation for itself since introducing its Kolour Sundays back in 2011.
It’s planning a series of electronic extravaganzas in 2015 and is kicking off the year with this event tomorrow at Thai Wake Park in Pathum Thani.
Kolour’s hottest DJs Nakadia, Darragh Casey, Adam Swain and Sunju Hargun will be manning the decks and the festival also features art displays, performances, gourmet food and lots of drinks to fuel the fun.
“This is our whole focus, to give people something they’ve never had,” says Kolour’s head honcho Coran Maloney.
“It’s an experience they can walk away from and remember. We do this through finding the right combination of food, music, atmosphere and more recently art, and are frequently told that we have the vibe of an open-air in Europe.”
Launched at Viva Aviv -– The River four years back, the Sunday chillax session then expanded to a mixture of secret locations including Scarlett at Pullman G, Flow House, Kinki at Rain Hill, Mode Sathorn, Horizons at Central World, the W Hotel and even turned up recently at the Wonderfruit Festival.
The party tomorrow is its first outside of Bangkok, and the biggest to date.
“Thai Wake Park is the best-known wake boarding park in Thailand. We loved it from the start. It is meticulously maintained by an amazing family and they were very welcoming of our |concept and our style of event. |We have a great synergy and this only means a better experience |for our patrons.
The venue also offers us the opportunity to build from scratch so for the first time, we get to choose how everything works. That level of control again helps |us to provide the best and most enjoyable experience for our patrons.
“We don't like to venture out too far. However the Thai Wake Park is just a short 40-50 minute cab ride from central Bangkok. We are also running buses and details are on our website.”
Surrounded by rice fields and three lakes (you can actually swim in one!), Kolour in the Park will entice patrons with delicious gourmet food options custom-made for this event by Water Library, Quince, Lady Brett and 25 Degrees.
Another highlight is guest DJ Sven Vath who will headline the music entertainment, alongside local stars and talent.
“Sven Vath is simply one of the greatest techno DJs that’s ever lived.” Maloney enthuses. “The guy is responsible for spreading techno across the world and also runs Cocoon, one of the most influential record labels and booking agencies on the scene.
His enthusiasm behind the deck is contagious. He also gives us the perfect platform to introduce locals to a new cutting edge style |of music.”
Known for his energetic and sometimes very, very long set, the German maestro has been at the forefront of the electronic music scene since 1981 and saw his career launched internationally with the release of “Electrica Salsa” in 1986. Lovingly referred to as “Papa Sven” by his fans, Vath has made his mark in the music community by being one of Germany’s “pop stars” in the 90s, running two famous clubs back home, and starting Cocoon.
Vath is also recognised for cultivating the underground electronic music scene not just in Germany but also in Ibiza with his own night at Amnesia for 14 years and at after parties in creative locations around the island. With one his longest sets having continued for 30 hours, Vath is a major proponent of vinyl and uses only two decks and a mixer for his extensive sets.
