THERE’S A SOLID reason for casting Katreeya “Kat” English as a vaporous ghost in the TV series “Song Rak, Song Winyarn”, quite apart from the fact that she’s a fine actress. She sets a good example for her co-stars.
The GMM One show, a remake of a popular series and also starring Saksit “Tang” Tangtong, marks the directorial debut of actor Phutanate “Captain” Hongmanop and the producing debut of actress Pimmada “Pim” Boriruksuppakorn.
The rookie director and producer have enjoyed an unexpected benefit in having Kat in the line-up because she’s so well respected and she’s always on time, crazily so. “I just don’t feel comfortable if I cause any delay during shooting, so I usually arrive on the set half an hour or even an hour before I’m scheduled to be there,” she tells GMM One.
Sometimes she gets there so early that the old abandoned house used in the show hasn’t even been unlocked for the day yet, so Kat just sits in her car or goes for breakfast nearby. “I just feel more comfortable doing it this way,” she says.
There is thus a joke going round among the cast and crew that co-star Tang is more afraid of Kat than he is of the stern director. He admits that performing opposite someone who’s always so well prepared makes him nervous.
For now Kat’s “extreme punctuality” merely makes her even more sought-after as an actress, but watch out if she ever decides to try producing or directing – the whole cast will have to be on their toes.

Okay, never mind

Maybe it was a slow news day or maybe it was just another case of reading too much between the lines. At any rate, it’s absolutely a non-issue.
Somehow Chermarn “Ploy” Boonyasak got run through the gossip grinder again this week for skipping the big engagement ceremony where her fellow actress Araya “Chompoo” A Hargate became formally betrothed to businessman Viravut “Nott” Rangsrisingpipa.
Bugged by her fans on Instagram about her excuse for giving the high-profile event a miss, Ploy casually and yet brutally replied, “Not invited.”
Well, off we go with massive unfounded speculation, then. Obviously something nasty went down between the girls. Maybe Ploy is furious and plans to murder Chompoo with a hunting knife. Maybe ...
Ploy promptly blew the whistle to halt play and then explained at length that Chompoo had only family and the closest of friends at the engagement function and a great many celebrities, like her, were not invited. “I answered ‘not invited’, which was the truth, and nothing more was intended.”
But, yes, she does have an invitation to Chompoo’s wedding reception tomorrow and will definitely be attending. Enough of the drama, the drama queen said. “Okay? So let’s end it!”
