These two articles, conveniently juxtaposed, inspire a suggestion for solving two problems at once. Those terrible Islamic State people are in danger of taking over Syria and Iraq, and apparently have designs on taking over the entire world. My native land, the United States, has a surfeit of aggressive biker gangs who suffer from testosterone overload and need someone to vent their angst on. This is an ideal set-up for a serendipitous solution.
Would it not be possible for the US to recruit biker gangs, award them some sort of quasi-military status, and ship them over to Iraq and Syria to fight the Islamic State hooligans? My husband, Horace Beasley, has the theory that our crazies are tougher than their crazies. Ever the idealistic visionary, Horace suggests that our biker gangs adopt new names like the Crusaders, Ragstompers, Beheader-Bashers, and Caliph-Crushers.
This innovation would serve three beneficent purposes. It would rid the US of biker gangs, rid Mesopotamia of the Islamic State savages and, after an interlude of slaughter, bring peace to the Middle East. Horace has indicated his willingness to accept a Nobel Peace Prize for this idea if it is offered to him.
