I wish PM Prayut would read letters by Khun Vint Chavala - one of the better regular contributors to this column - rather than listen to some of his ill informed advisers. A case in point is Khun Vint's last letter regarding GMO seeds.
Thailand is in a grave danger as the US government is trying hard to push for the Trans Pacific Partnership, a secret trade agreement that would turn this country into a virtual colony of the United States by forcing GMO here.
In India, over 200,000 farmers have committed suicide since Monsanto started selling GMO seeds, which have led to financially crippling royalties owed to Monsanto. In Thailand the stakes are so high that the TPP may be worth a few submarines.
