“Justice has been served” is a cliché popular the world over. The phrase is subjective. For those who agree with the acquittal of the two Phuketwan journalists, it means “the verdict was the one I wanted”. But the Royal Thai Navy surely wouldn’t say the same, preferring something like, “We respect the court’s judgement, but we disagree with it” – meaning, “The verdict sucked.”
I wonder what Khun Burin would have said had the Phuket court convicted the two defendants? In Thailand, if the “big guy” sues a “small guy”, the big guy is automatically labelled the “bad guy”.
