PRICED AT well below Bt7,000, the Lenovo A7000 Plus is an affordable 4G smartphone boasting a large Full HD screen and a great sound.
The A7000 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1080x1920-pixel resolution, is powered by the low-cost 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor running at 1.7 GHz and has 2 gigabytes (RAM) of memory, more than enough for multitasking. It has 16 GB of internal storage, which is expandable with a microSD card of up to 32GB. It runs on Google Android 5.0 operating system.
I found the display really good for viewing photos and watching video clips.
Although MediaTek MT6752 may not be as fast as Snapdragon’s top processors, it is acceptable for most applications and I rarely noticed any time lags. Its menus and touch screen were responsive and screen scrolling was fast.
The A7000 Plus also supports LTE 4G connection. I tested it on TrueMove H's LTE network and again the connection speed was pleasingly fast. Applications were downloaded in a jiffy and my snapshots were backed up to my cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive quickly and without problems.
Measuring the connection speed with Ookla Speedtest app, A7000 Plus managed to achieve a download speed of 44.21 Mbps and upload speed of 17.64 Mbps.
The smartphone has two microSIM slots. The first is for the 4G/3G SIM and the other for a 2G SIM. It also has SIM management function in the Settings, allowing you to set one SIM for data connection and the other for voice calls and SMS.
The A7000 Plus comes with 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-MP front camera and both took decent photos in a well-lit environment. The front camera has a flash-filling option that can brighten your face when you take selfies and also supports voice commands and hand signs for shutter firing. You can say “snap” or “cheese” to fire the shutter or flash a V sign or wave your hand to shoot your own shots.
The smartphone also doubles as a good-quality digital music player. It has Dolby ATMOS Audio function for creating virtual surround sound that is good for watching movies or listening to music.
I was happy to find that A7000 Plus could play high-resolution audio format of FLAC 24-bit/192 kHz. I tested it with Sony’s MDR-1ABT and was impressed by the music quality with its detailed sounds and deep bass.
The A7000 Plus comes with Lenovo’s signature DOit apps software including SHAREit which allows you to easily share files, photos and more between devices. CLONEit transfers data to a new phone while SYNCit backs up contacts, text SMS and call logs.
A7000 Plus has a replaceable 2,900 mAh Li-polymer battery. During the test, I found that one full charge could comfortably take me through a whole day.
The Lenovo A7000 Plus is available through Lazada flash sale for Bt6,290. It is also bundled with a free call and Internet package from True Move H valued up to Bt6,000.
